Space Coast War Dog Association

We currently have a jar to help raise money for the Military Dogs that are over in Iraq.  They are in need of paw, ear and eye wipes, treats, toys, etc.  We would like to help by raising money and then purchasing what is needed.  We would then donate the items to the  Space Coast War Dogs Association for them to be able to send the items to them.  These dogs are fighting to protect us, so please help us raise money for things they need to make them more comfortable in doing it.  Thank you for your continuing help and support, they so greatly appreciate it.

This is the latest email from B.A.R.K. regarding the Dog Park in Bristol

Fran and I met with Ed Swicklas (Park Superintendent) this afternoon at the Rockwell Park Site to flag the area designated as the official Bristol Dog Park.  We have a nice wooded area for the large dog area that will support a great walking trail, as well as a relatively flat area by the parking lot for the small dog area.
Ed agreed to take down some of the dead trees and clear out some of the smaller trees in the way.  We decided that we would plan to put the fence in April of next year, which would allow Ed the time to remove the trees without having to worrying about ruining the fence with a downed tree.  It will also give us some time as a group to start to clean up the area of some trash, as well as large sticks and logs littering the area.  Ed will take the sticks away if we drag them to a central area like the parking lot.
So here's the plan...
We continue to try to raise money, and will once again look to participate in gift wrapping at the Meriden Westfield Mall.  We'll talk about an early spring fund raiser also (anyone who would like to organize a pasta supper or other fund raiser would be welcome).  Any money we raise will just make the area bigger, or allow us to put in benches (we'll put it to a vote when/if we have extra money).
In the spring (March / early April), we'll put together some "clean up" days, where our goal will be to remove dead branches and garbage from the area.

In Feb/March, we'll get a minimum of 3 bids for the fencing, with the plan to install the fence during the month of April.  I would welcome anyone who wants to be in charge of collecting the bids.
Ed will remove some trees during the winter months or early spring depending on snow.
In Jan/Feb we'll be looking for people to come up with some rules for our dog park.  Anyone who would like to be the head of that committee, please let me know.
Is there any interest in going to the site to check out the area?  If so, let me know and I'll set up a time on the weekend where I can show people the dog park site.
We're almost there!  Any and all help in getting these final projects done will be greatly appreciated.
Isabel, Bark Committee
